Profession

Former United Nations Ambassador for Grassroots Consultations, for Southern and Eastern African Regions at the World Humanitarian Summit in 2014, Godel Sefu is passionate about peace, reconciliation, and economic development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Godel migrated to South Africa in early 2007 seeking for asylum following the political unrest and civil wars in the Eastern provinces of the DR Congo. With the growing xenophobic violence raising the need for protection of the most vulnerable of the refugee's community in South Africa, Godel saw an opportunity and co-founded the Disabled Refugees Projects, which evolved into Redeeming Hope for the Disabled, a Non-Profit organization that caters for the safety of disabled refugees, providing sanctuary and care from xenophobia as well as providing skills, training and promoting both South African and other refugee rights.

Godel is multi-lingual, being fluent in English, French and the East-African Kishwahili and worked as a student journalist whilst completing his degrees in Philosophy and Theology as well as later managing a language translation department in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since arriving in South Africa in 2007, he has completed numerous trainings at various credible institutions including the University of Pretoria, and has increased and improved his skills set through certification in Disability Rights, Competence in Leadership, Good Governance and Civil Society as well as Addiction Recovery Coaching, Gender Reconciliation, AVP, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence prevention and response as well as IT, Communication, Databases and Project Planning. Godel volunteers for ManKind Project South Africa (part of the global ManKind Project) and holds the position of African Liaison in the National Council. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Ron Hering Award for Mission of Service in the World, 2012. Godel was also volunteering as the Speaker of the UDPS (current party in power) for the Youth based in South Africa and who, by the lack of focus in real change in the Leadership of the Party, decided to co-found the Christian Convention for Change (CCC) a political party aiming to bring a positive, radical and permanent change in the governance, priority given to emerge and mentor a new generation of virtuous and truly patriotic leaders for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
